QK is Dr. A. R. Rahman's brainchild. Dr Rahman's KM College of Music and Technology/ KM Music Conservatory produces amazingly talented students every year. Despite being talented, some students struggle due to lack of means and direction to showcase their talent. In order to provide exposure to these students, Dr. Rahman has set up QK.
QK provides platform to KM Conservatory students to showcase their talent. On 16th September 2014 at the Poster launch of Everest TV series, Dr. A. R. Rahman and producer/director Ashutosh Gowariker announced QK.
Everest is currently one the most expensive TV series ever produced in India. The Title Music is by A. R. Rahman and it was composed, arranged and recorded at his Panchathan Hollywood Studios, Los Angeles. Recognizing the talent that KM Conservatory produces and in support of Dr Rahman's vision of providing platform to showcase this talent, Mr Ashutosh Gowariker decided to use QK for scoring of music for Everest.
For this Project Dr. A. R. Rahman teamed up with KM Alumni: Jerry Silvester Vincent, Sonthosh Dhyanidhi, Harshvardhan Gadhavi and Arpita Gandhi. This is how the entire team of QK started their journey under the mentorship of Mr. Ashutosh Gowariker. The score of this production is quite unique. It will be very orchestral. The entire team composed and arranged themes based on the characters briefs given by Mr. Ashutosh Gowariker. They set up the themes, rearranged them and composed incidental music and thus added soul to the characters.
